2011 Fishing Season Right Around The Corner

Hi Jim Brungardt here.  The start of the 3 Creek Ranch fishing season is right around the corner.  June 1st is opening day here and if this year is like past years I expect the fishing to be pretty good right away.  As many of you know the vast majority of our fish leave the creeks in mid to late October and winter in the main stem of the Snake.  The first “push” of fish from the river back into our creeks is usually in mid April.  Fish continue to work their way back into our creeks all summer with the biggest push of fish in mid to late June.  So normally the fish population the first 10-15 days of the season is not great but still good enough that we should expect to catch a few.   Those of you that are around at the beginning of June make sure you call or email me and let’s get out and do some fishing.

By now you have probably heard that we have a huge snow pack still left in the mountains.  I have heard snow pack in some areas is over 170% of normal.  That is BIG!  Many of the local rivers and streams will not be fishable for some time and there’s a chance the Snake won’t be fishable till late July.  That doesn’t mean there won’t be fishable water but expect to have to venture further afield.  Rivers like the Henry’s Fork and Green may be fishable relatively early followed by the South Fork and finally the Snake.  If you are interested in arranging some June/July offsite guided fishing let me know so we can get something on the books.  With limited fishing options I expect demand for these guided trips to be heavy and those hoping to arrange something last minute may be out of luck.

If you need help with anything fishing related from booking a session here at 3C to arranging a day or two of guided fishing to recommendations on what fishing equipment to buy give me a call or send me an email.  I look forward to getting back on the water with all of you this season.
