Late June Fishing Report

Hello from Jim Brungardt. Sometimes everything goes your way and for the past week or so I can't complain. The fishing has been very good. The PMD hatches are consistantly starting around 11:00 and the dry fly fishing has been pretty good. We have been fishing a variety of PMD dry patterns like Sparkle Duns, Spun Duns and Parachutes but have also had good luck fishing Rusty Spinners. The fish on Blue Crane Creek have also shown interest in ants and beetles. The morning fishing has started to pick up and I expect the mornings to get even better in the next couple of weeks. Last year the hopper fishing didn't pick up until mid September but already I'm seeing lots of small grasshoppers and expect this summer to be a big year for fishing big hopper patterns. Look for that fishing to really pick up in late July. Cody Creek and Blue Crane Creek don't have many fish in their upper ends but as more fish move into the creeks I expect that to change. The weather has been great, the PMD hatch will continue to intensify and the fishing has been very good. I can't ask for anything more. I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.
