WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
Hike: Holly Lake, Teton Park
Time: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Location: Meet at the Nature Center at 7:30 AM
Description: Strenuous
Distance: 12.4 miles R/T
Elevation Gain: 2,646'     Maximum Elevation: 9,440'
This beautiful glacier lake is reached by hiking the steep trail up Paintbrush Canyon beginning at the String Lake trailhead. We begin on the lower slopes covered in lodgepole pine and gradually ascend into classic subalpine and alpine terrain surrounded by massive granite walls. The lake is situated in an unforgettable alpine setting with Mt. Woodring as a dramatic backdrop. We will travel on a well-maintained trail the entire day. This hike was rained-out last week.
Bring: daypack, water bottle, lunch/snacks, rain jacket, warm layer, hat, sunscreen

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22
Hike: Cache Creek to Game Creek
Time: 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Location: Meet at the Nature Center at 8:00 AM
Description: Moderate
Distance: 9.7 miles R/T
Elevation Gain: 1,435'     Maximum Elevation: 7,410’
This is a popular hiking and mountain destination trail along a well-maintained trail. We begin this hike at the Cache Creek trailhead, maintaining a very easy and gradual uphill gain of only 700 feet in the first 3,7 miles. We then cross over Cache Creek, and hit our only short but steeper section of trail, gaining just 250 feet to the pass between Cache and Game Creek. From the pass, we descend 1,290 feet over the next 5.5 miles through beautiful aspen and pine forests to the game Creek trailhead. Every point along the way offers gorgeous vistas of open meadows, timbered stands of spruce and fir, and abundant wildflowers.
Bring: daypack, snack, rain jacket, warm layer, hat, sunscreen, hiking shoes
Notes: Dogs are welcome.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
Hike: Black Canyon: top to bottom
Time: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Location: Meet at the Nature Center at 8:00 AM
Description: Strenuous
Distance: 9 miles R/T
Elevation Gain: 950', elevation loss 2,800'     Maximum Elevation: 9,200’
We will start this hike directly off of Teton Pass, following a maintained trail surrounded by abundant alpine wildflowers and incredible vistas of the Snake River Range and the Jackson valley. From peak 9279, we descend down the pass via the Black Canyon trail through towering subalpine and Douglas fir forests, aspen meadows and small creek crossings. Although this is a moderate downhill hike, I rate this as challenging only because of the total distance. We will also get a glimpse of recent Jackson Hole history as we explore the remnants of an old sawmill at the base of the Old Pass Road.
Bring: daypack, water bottle, lunch/snacks, rain jacket, warm layer, hat, sunscreen
