Grand National Powder 8s (website)
February 4 – 5, 2017
10:30AM
Cody Bowl, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Teton Village

A bit of history:
Running from 1975 until 2001, the historic competition inception occurred. Held outside of the ski area boundary, before the backcountry gates were open to the public, the nationally recognized event was held on the Powder 8 face of Cody Bowl for our Grand Reunion Weekend. Winners were then sent to the World Championships in Canada.

As times changed with the move away from synchronized skiing and the opening of the backcountry gates to the public in the winter 1999-00, the resort discontinued hosting the competition after the 2001 competition.

2017
JHMR is hosting the historic competition to the Powder 8 face of Cody Bowl again this year. Teams will be judged on, synchronization, symmetry of the 8’s, and skiers style.

The competition will be on the Powder 8 face of Cody Bowl just outside the ski area boundary on Saturday, February 4th starting at 10:30am. We recommend viewing from Rendezvous Bowl or the top of the tram. People can also view from the bottom of the Power 8’s face but this is out of bounds and you need to know where you’re going, have a plan, avalanche training, and have your pack and avalanche safety gear ready. Just outside the ropes of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort lies dangerous, unmarked terrain features, please exercise extreme caution.

Triple Crown - Moose Chase Saturday
February 18, 2017

The first event in the Triple Crown series! The premier 25th Annual Moose Chase Nordic Ski Race the Trail Creek Nordic Center.  This leg of the series offers a 30k (that skis like a 50k), a 15k, 5k, 3k, and a free 1/2k. Athletes can skate or classic ski the course, its up you!

Who will be crowned the 2017 "King & Queen of the Hole"?
The Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club will answer that question through the Triple Crown race series.  To be eligible to win, a competitor must start and finish all three JHSC community events including the Nordic Moose Chase Marathon, the Town Downhill and the Karen Oatey Pole Pedal Paddle. Competitor points accumulate throughout the series and are published on our website after each event.  Jackson’s male and female winners will be announced during the Karen Oatey Pole Pedal Paddle Awards Ceremony held at Astoria Hot Springs.  The Triple Crown celebrates Jackson’s winter sports traditions, creates a positive buzz in the community, increases event awareness and answers the question of who are Jackson’s best winter sports athletes.
