3CR Fishing Program Update

Hi Everyone!

There’s lots of good news to report. As you probably already know we have been getting pounded with snow so far this winter. Snowpack for both the Snake River and Upper Green River drainages are both well above normal. Lots of snow means plenty of cold water throughout the summer and that’s good for the trout in our streams. Let’s hope this trend continues and it snows thru March/early April. Tristen Connell will be returning for his second summer. Tristen did a great job last year and I’m glad to have him back for 2017. He will be working Thursdays thru Monday here at 3CR and guiding on the Snake for an outfitter Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The habitat enhancement work has started on both Spring and Cody Creeks. This work includes riffle/run/pool enhancement, stream bank stabilization, stream bank re-vegetation, spawning bed enhancement and improving fish migration. Above are a couple of photos of the work. I look forward to showing all of you the improvements this summer.

A reminder that the fishing season begins June 1.
