Nordic Program – Track Update
December 29, 2017

Holiday Greetings from the Nordic Center,

Our track is open and Sevi and I are very excited to see skiers enjoying this wonderful winter sport. I will be recovering from a ski injury sustained over the holidays, and hopeful I will be back on skis shortly. Sevi will be conducting all of the clinics in the meantime and I encourage all of you to spend time with her. She is a talented and truly delightful person to ski with.

We also kindly request that you not walk on the groomed Nordic track. Footprints leave divots in the track and create difficult ski conditions for all skiers. We appreciate your understanding and participation.

As always, we are here to help with all your ski wax and repair needs, and the Nordic Center remains a warm and welcoming place to begin your time on the track. We look forward to seeing all of you soon, and please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance.

The best skiing for both skate and classic continues to be Monroe’s last stand (driving range loop). Hope to see you out on the track!

 Warm Regards,
 Sevi and Roger

3 Creek Ranch Nordic Schedule

-  Tuesday, January 2
Ski Tour:  Granite Creek to Phelps Lake
Time: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
Place: Meet at the Nordic Center at 9:00 am.
Difficulty: Easy
Mileage: R/T 6 miles (13.5 km).  Maximum elevation: 7,250’   Elevation gain: 425'

This is an out and back ski tour to Phelps Lake. We’ll begin this tour at the Granite Creek trailhead and parking area in GTNP, ski about a mile up the Moose-Wilson road, then turn east and ski along a beautiful trail to the lake. There will be a easy short downhill section on our return. No facilities at the trailhead.

Notes on what to bring: Recommended gear for all our Ski Tours:
a small daypack, insulated water bottles, (a small thermos of hot tea or cocoa is always a pleasure to have), lunch/snacks. Clothing: although all of us warm up and cool down in a unique manner…we strongly recommend wearing any combination of light-to-mid weight layers such as smartwool or capilene, and maybe a thin down vest (anything non-cotton!) that can be removed or added based on weather conditions and level of exertion; a lightweight outer shell jacket, extra warm layer such as a light weight down puffy jacket for a lunch stop; and consider having both a light-weight and heavier-weight hat and gloves. As always, contact me if I can help you with these types of Nordic clothing.
Length and destination of the tour is weather dependent.
