Greetings from the Nature Center,

Below please find the Schedule of Events for the upcoming week of August 5. I look forward to seeing you, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance.

Weekly Schedule
Monday, august 5

Road Cycling: Moose - Antelope Flats Loop
Time: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Place: Meet at the Nature Center at 8:30 AM
Difficulty: Moderate
Mileage:  21.5 miles R/T    Maximum Elevation: 6,800'    Elevation Gain: 760'

Description:  We’ll load up our bikes at the Nature Center and begin/end this ride in Moose. We’ll follow the bike path NORTH for about 1 mile to the north entrance of Antelope Flats Road. From this junction, we’ll gain roughly 340’ of elevation over 5.5 miles to the highest point of this ride at 6,800’ and near the entrance to Teton Science School. From this point, we’ll continue 2 miles to Kelly, another 7 miles past Kelly along Antelope Flats to connect up with the pathway at Gros Ventre Junction. We’ll finish the last 6 miles north to Moose along the pathway. Expect flat to gentle rolling terrain with the potential of seeing wildlife on what I consider one of the most scenic bike rides in the world. We will ride about 14 miles on a small quiet road with little traffic, 7 miles on pathway.

Bring: bike, helmet, water bottles, warm layer, sunscreen.
Notes:  Restroom and refreshments at start and end of ride. Please stop by or give me a call if you need help preparing your bike or other cycling needs.

Day Hike: Coal Creek to Mesquite Pass

Snow has finally melted along this high country hike. I call this a‘classic Teton Hike’ because this relatively short hike packs in breathtaking mountain views, includes most of our ecological vegetation zones and offers amazing wildflowers as we move higher up in elevation. We will begin this hike at the Coal Creek trailhead (7,250’) on the west side of Teton Pass, and end our hike at Mesquite Pass, a steady climb of almost3 miles and 2,000’ of elevation to 9,210 feet in Mesquite Pass.

Bring: daypack, extra warm layer, rain shell, lunch, water bottle.
Notes: Please note early 7:30 AM departure from the Nature Center.
