The 2017 SHIFT Festival - Public Lands: The Business Case

The annual fall event, SHIFT is a gathering bringing together influencers in the outdoor rec, cultural relevancy, conservation, and land-management communities with the goal of protection and education of our public lands.  2017 explores the economic case for public lands: how investments in outdoor recreation and public lands create local economic prosperity and contribute to vibrant, resilient communities across the U.S.

SHIFT for the Planet
Designed in partnership with 1% for the Planet, 2017 will feature the eight SHIFT Award finalists, who are also 1% for the Planet nonprofit partners, and their individual five minute presentations focusing on the most innovative, impactful, and replicable examples of outdoor recreation and the challenge of continuation through the years.

Wyoming Whiskey Ski Town ShowdownWyoming Whiskey Bartender Shootout: Regional Competition

The Rocky Mountain Best Bartenders Compete In A Live Cocktail-Making Competition.
Kicking off 2017’s competition, The Mangy Moose will host Jackson’s finest bartenders this November 8th. Come out and watch the live Cocktail Shootout - top 4 will advance to the final against the winners from Aspen, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah to be titled the Rocky Mountain’s best bartender.

Watershed Jackson Annual Gala 2017
Saturday, November 11, 2017
Time: 5:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Location: Center for the Arts

Tickets: $125 – Silent Auction, Dinner & Drinks

The annual Watershed Jackson hosts a gala event featuring a guest speaker with the goal to educate the community on life of athletes post-traumatic injury or hardship and the journey back to the sports they love with the community’s support. 

Featured Speaker: Victoria Arlen; Special guest: Sally Francklyn
Bio: Victoria Arlen is an ESPN personality and American paralympian swimmer. She lost the use of her legs due to a rare viral disease called Transverse Myelitis, with which she battled for five years including four years in a vegetative coma. After 10 years of paralysis, Victoria is walking again, but remains a champion for those with disabilities, encouraging everyone to Face It, Embrace It, Defy It, Conquer It.

Proceeds: 100% Watershed Jackson Accessibility Fund directed back to our community.

2017 Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot
Thursday, November 23, 2016
Teton County/Jackson Recreation Center (start and finish of the race)
155 East Gill Street in Jackson
8:45 am Non Competitive Division Start
9:15 am Competitive Division Start  

Entry: 
$15 adult
$10 youth (age 17 and under)

Start Thanksgiving off on a healthy note with the annual Turkey Trot 5k! Turkey Trot registration is online or at Teton County/Jackson Recreation Center until 12:00 pm November 22, 2017.  

The 25th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K Race sponsored by St. John's Medical Center and will be a collection site for the Jackson Cupboard. Any non-perishable food donations can be brought to the Teton County/Jackson Recreation Center on race day.

Lil' Gobblers
Ages 10 and under are welcome to join the Lil' Gobblers event. Run side-by-side with the fully costumed turkey on this short course in the rec center parking lot.  Event to start after the completion of the 5K.Registration day of race only and FREE!

Jackson Hole Town Square Lighting

Friday, November 24, 2017
Time: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Location: Town Square 

Start the post-Thanksgiving Day diet by walking down to Town Square to partake in the favorite annual holiday lighting of Town Square. As the lights begin to glow and Santa arrives, the Jackson Hole Community Band serenades the evening with all of the classic carols.  Hot coco, cookies, and coffee will be served.  Thanks to McDonald’s and Albertsons for sponsoring Town Square Lighting!

Thanks also go to Boy Scout Troop 268, Blue Spruce Cleaners, Jackson Hole Community Band, Jackson Hole Chorale, and the Town of Jackson.

The Wood Brothers

American folk rock band, The Wood Brothers, will perform live with special guest Sean McConnell.

Recorded at Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye studio in Nashville, ‘Paradise’ captures the latest chapter in the ongoing evolution of a band—and a family—navigating the joy and challenges of a life in music.
